The idea of a weight loss diet for fat people is one of the biggest hoaxes marketers have ever pulled off. Millions of innocent people and billions of dollars are sucked in every single year.
Shocking:
Is this one of the silliest things you've heard in a while? Why would someone say something so outrageous?
You are probably at least a little skeptical. Everyone knows weight loss and dieting is a billion-dollar-a-year industry.
Well, here's the thing: if someone is overweight, are they a fat person, or a fat people? I'll bet you answered "a fat person." Of course, you were absolutely right to do so. And in so doing, you also just uncovered one of marketing's greatest hoaxes. This hoax is effectively cleaning out wallets and purses all over America and Canada.
You see, the issue is this: "Fat people" represent a group. And groups don't go on diets. Individuals go on diets!
The Difference Is In "Who's" Fat, Not "What's" Fat!
Groups are about what people have in common. The more things that people need to have in common, the harder it is to create really large groups. So if you want to create large groups, the secret is to only require a small number of commonalities.
So when a diet is advertised as "The Diet for Overweight People" and the intention is to speak to all the overweight people on the continent-guess what? You've got it! To make a group this big, they must look at a very few things. In fact, they look at only one thing that all these people have in common. They're fat.
It seems easy and straight forward to market their new "Diet for Overweight People." If 5 people buy this diet, it should work for them all since they are all "fat people." So this diet should be perfect for each individual, right?
NOPE!
Check out the facts
* George's heritage gift of various hormonal imbalances is at the root of his obesity.
* Sheila is overweight because she eats a lot of meat and dairy products from producers that make use of growth hormones to fatten up the livestock. Sheila is unaware that this is also fattening her up!
* Peter has passed beyond the big four zero. And 2 years ago, Peter was transferred to a management level desk job (where he gets no exercise) from a field position (where he got lots of exercise). Peter's problems can be traced to a metabolism that is slowing down.
* Margaret has been yoyo dieting since her second pregnancy and now has a body highly trained to hold on to every tiny bit of fat it can find and/or manufacture. In addition, her body displays military precision in its ability to move while burning a minimum of calories. Margaret's body has become a fat storage machine.
* Perhaps Barbara's tale is the saddest. Barbara hates the fat woman in the mirror who stares back at her. Barbara has valiantly fought to lose weight for years. The depression and shame she feels is almost unbearable. Barbara's family and friends see the obvious fact about her weight problem. It's a secret to Barbara, but not because of any conspiracy. She just can't see or hear the truth-the truth that she is at least 20 pounds underweight! Dieting isn't working for Barbara because nothing she does to her body changes this image of herself which she holds in her mind.
I Rest My Case:
"Fat people" is a group made up of individual people, each struggling with their personal version of overweight. This is a fact. And in light of this fact, there can be no "perfect diet for fat people."
Do not lose hope though, it is possible to find the perfect diet for you. This will take a little homework in learning about yourself and your specific options, but it is certainly doable! - 14915
