Looking for Someone Online

By Samantha Carterson

How to find someone online is a frequently asked question. Most people know how to use the search engines, but they just give up too easily or don't make their searches specific enough.

If you can't find who you are looking for on one search engine, try some of these (note -- just add dot com to the end to go to the search engine): Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Dogpile, Ask, AllTheWeb, HotBot, AltaVista, Gigablast, LookSmart, Lycos, etc. There are literally hundreds of search engines, so if you need more, just go to Google and type "search engine" into the search box.

The social networks are great places for finding people, too. These sites are huge, and a great place to search: HubPages, YouTube, Digg, MySpace, Squidoo, and FaceBook.

Don't give up, whatever you do, because the search possibilities are truly enormous. With a little persistence, you will find the person you're looking for.

Are you utilizing everything you already know about the person? Take some time to jot down the facts. Do you know the first and last name? Do you know the city or state where they used to live? Do you have an old phone number? Do you know the person's birthdate? Or perhaps you have an old email address that is no longer active?

If you are having trouble, use all the facts you know about the person. Sometimes one tiny detail lets you narrow your search enough to be successful.

People search websites online are another useful resource. To get a list of the available sites, enter "people search" or "find someone" or "how to find someone online" into your searchbox. Be creative. If you want to do a quick search, these sites really do save time and effort.

So get started today -- what are you waiting for? Take the plunge and learn how to find someone online. - 14915
