Keeping Your Polished Concrete's Quality

By Mikkan Drane

Yes, you've done it! Your floor looks amazing! But wait, are you not forgetting something? Although concrete polished floor are said to be highly durable and strong, it will still need to be cared for and maintained. Because face it, strength alone wont work, especially when you're abusing it.

Maintenance is easy but the first thing to consider is the quality of your concrete polished floor. It should be assured that the floor is properly sealed after it had been polished. An epoxy sealer which is very easy to apply and very cost effective could be used to it. This serves as fillers for the gaps and cracks that the floor could have over time of use.

When you are done with the sealing process, the next step will already be very simple. All you have to do is keep your concrete polished floor sleek and clean all the time. Although it is not required to be done all the time, you can choose to put on your floor necessary concrete polishers that would add up to the quality and durability of your polished concrete floor.

When you keep your floor clean, you are also giving your floor that slip resistance character it should have. Contamination is actually of the major causes of slip resistance going low. Keeping the concrete polished floor dry is also one major concept to consider.

The regular application of floor polish helps in filling the surfaces roughness that provides that grip or friction required for that much desired slip resistance. However, if your floors finish has quite a low surface roughness, you should lessen the layers of polish on the concrete as too much of it could reduce the slip resistance quite significantly. Whats important here is the awareness as to what your concrete requires what suits its maintenance needs. - 14915
