Solving Dyslexia

By David Morgan

There is a simple approach to curing dyslexia that usually works well. You diagnose the cause of the dyslexia

The term dyslexic just means "finds reading hard despite normal intelligence". It says nothing about what is causing the problem.

I get a bit frustrated about it because it is the equivalent of a mechanic telling you your car has broken down. What you want to know is why it isn't working and how to fix it!

Once you look at the root cause of the dyslexia it is usually easy to fix. And just a handful of problems are the cause of 95% of dyslexia.

In fact 8 out of 10 cases of dyslexia have an "auditory deficit". That means that they are not engaging their auditory cortex while processing the text. They are viewing the text as series of pictures.

15% have mild dyspraxia. That makes scanning the text very difficult because they don't have sufficient control of their eyeballs. Simple exercises can help that in just days.

So ask to see an analysis of the cause of someone's dyslexia. Once you know that the solution often becomes quite simple to find. - 14915
